Perfect for fans of Julia Quinn and Eloisa James, this sparkling debut is an exciting new voice in Historical romance

England, 1811. Delia Somerset despises the privileged ton, but her young sister, Lily, is desperate to escape their family's scandalous past and join high society. Unwilling to upset her sister, Delia reluctantly agrees to attend a party at the Sutherland estate-and avoid the gossip at all costs.

Alec Sutherland is known as a hot-headed scoundrel, but nothing gets a rise out of him as much as the news that his brother desires Delia's hand in marriage. She is, after all, the daughter of the London belle who soiled their family name. He's determined to ruin her reputation as well, in the most delicious way possible. It's only a matter of time before he can woo her with his irresistible advances.

As Delia devilishly plays along in Alec's game, determined to prove the joke is on him, they inch ever closer to repeating history. And in this game of seductive glances, scandalous whispers, and old debts, the outcome might be much more than either of them anticipated...

My Review:

I really love Historical Romance novels. So when I received ‘A Wicked Way To Win An Earl’ I was really looking forward to start reading it. Especially when I found out that Anna Bradley was a new author, and this was her first book. There is something magical about reading an author’s first book!

In ‘A Wicked Way To Win An Earl’ we meet young Delia Somerset. Delia is the oldest of five young sisters, and after her parents death, she is the one who takes care of her sisters. When Delia and one of her younger sisters Lily, get invited to visit the sisters of Lord Carlisle, Delia soon find herself on the road. But Delia really doesn’t like the privileged men of society and their arrogance. But sister love goes a long way!
When Delia meets Alec Sutherland, Lord Carlisle she immediately finds him just as arrogant and privileged as she thought he would be. But there is something about Alec.. and soon Delia finds herself in the middle of a game.

‘A Wicked Way To Win An Earl’ was a great first book in a new series. From the moment Delia and Alec meet I was fascinated. They meet in an extraordinary way, and it definitely makes you wonder how this book will go. There definitely was an instant attraction between Delia and Alec, but like in every other good historical romance novel there is a story that must be told before the romance really begins. And I love that feeling of getting to know the characters and witnessing their romance. And Anna Bradley was able to write a great first book if you ask me.

The main characters Delia and Alec were so nice to get know. I loved the way they interacted with each other. Alec was really arrogant and even rude at times, and he really thought he could embarrass Delia with his blond language. And what I loved most, was that even though Delia was young and didn’t have a lot of experience in talking with men, she really kept up with Alec. Delia would say things you really didn’t expect of her and it was so much fun to read the interactions between these two. And the romance definitely made you feel those butterflies. Sigh..

I really loved ‘A Wicked Way To Win An Earl’ and I can’t wait to read the second book in the Sutherland Scandals series.

About the Author:

Anna Bradley has been an avid reader, writer and book fondler since childhood, when she pilfered her first romance novel and stole away to her bedroom to devour it. This insatiable love of the written word persisted throughout her childhood in Maine, where it led to a master’s degree in English Literature.

Before she became a writer, Anna worked with a rare books library featuring works by British women writers from the 1600s through the Regency period. Here she indulged in her love of stories, fondled smooth, leather-bound volumes to her heart’s content and dreamed of becoming a writer.

Anna writes steamy historical romance (think garters, fops and riding crops) and squeezes in a career as a writing and literature professor on the side. She lives with her husband and two children in Portland, OR, where people are delightfully weird and love to read.

I received this book from the Little, Brown Book Group in exchange for my honest review.
