Hailey Roberts has never had it easy. Despite the scars of a tragic childhood, she’s made a life for herself. As a part-time student and loving nanny, she yearns for a family of her own and reluctant Austin Casey, Ethan Cooke Security’s best close protection agent.

Hailey’s past comes back to haunt her when her long lost brother tracks her down, bringing his dangerous secrets with him. At an emotional crossroads, Hailey accepts a humanitarian opportunity that throws her together with Austin, taking her hundreds of miles from her troubles, or so she thinks.

What starts out as a dream come true quickly becomes a nightmare as violence erupts on the island of Cozumel. Young women are disappearing, community members are dying—and the carnage links back to her brother.

As Austin struggles to keep Hailey’s past from destroying her future, he’s forced to make a decision that could turn her against him, or worse cost them both their lives.

My Review:

Ever since I read ‘Falling For Sarah’ in July of this year, I’ve been completely hooked to Cate Beauman’s The Bodyguards of L.A. County series. Seriously I can’t stop reading these books! I’ve read five of the books now, and I’m reading them completely out of order. But that’s definitely part of what makes this series so good. I’ve been wanting to read Hailey and Austin’s story ever since I read ‘Falling For Sarah’, so when I was finally able to I started reading as fast as I could.

In ‘Hailey’s Truth’ we read Hailey’s story. Hailey is a twenty five year old who didn’t have an easy child hood. Growing up as a foster child, and losing the only parents she ever knew when she was only fourteen years old definitely made growing up hard. But now things are finally looking up for Hailey. She has close friends she sees as family, a good job, and she is soon going to Mexico for a final school project. If only Austin, her handsome friend could see her as more as just a ‘kid’, than her life would be perfect.

‘Hailey’s Truth’ was definitely as good as I hoped it would be. A lot of romance and definitely a lot of thrilling and exciting moments. This book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning till end. What I liked the most about ‘Hailey’s Truth’ was definitely the chemistry between Hailey and Austin. It was definitely flying of the pages and I was totally rooting for them. They were just so good for each other. And I loved reading about their thoughts about one another. The two point of views were definitely so much fun to read.

Hailey’s character was definitely a nice one. On the one hand she was this nice, kind and strong woman who survived a hell of a lot of bad to get where she is now. But on the other hand she had these real insecurities I could totally understand.
Austin really had this mysterious feel about him. You know he had a nice childhood, a rough past in the Navy and there isn’t a lot you know him besides that. I loved that part. But most of all I loved how sweet and passionate he was about Hailey.

This book didn’t only have a great romance, but there were definitely also a lot of moments that it was just so thrilling to read this book that I didn’t know what to do with myself. The Mexican mob? Really Cate? I almost couldn’t handle the thrilling moments at times.

‘Hailey’s Truth’ was definitely another great book in the series. And even after reading five of the books.. I still can’t get enough and can’t wait to read the next one.
