There are so many great authors out there, it’s definitely hard to pick just one favorite author. But if I think about it long enough I must say my favorite author is J.K. Rowling. Not only is the Harry Potter series my favorite book series and I still can’t get enough of those books, I also love her series written through her pseudonym  Robert Galbraith. I thinks it’s really remarkable that J.K. Rowling was able to write a series that made so many people want to read it. And still children all over the world start the Harry Potter series today. That’s just amazing to me.

J.K. Rowling is the author I want to read all the books from. I don’t even look at what kind of book it is. If her name is on it, I want to read it. Every time I read a book written by her I just feel in awe. I think her writing is very easy to follow, intriguing and always makes me want to read more.

Other authors I love to read are Stephenie Meyer, Samantha Young, Cate Beauman and Nora Roberts.

Review 'The Captain's Rebel' by C.B. Halverson
Land. Power. Influence. Mary O’Malley knows these are the only things that matter in her war-torn country. Determined to win back her ancestral home, she must embark on a journey across the Atlantic disguised as a cabin boy. But her ruse brings her under the control of a dangerous sea captain who demands from her the one thing she will never give—complete and total submission.

Captain Richard Grant runs a tight ship, and he didn’t claw his way up through the ranks of the Royal Navy to be undone by a headstrong Irish girl hell-bent on jeopardizing his mission and his crew. If she insists on dressing like a man, then she can take his punishments. He demands obedience, but his insatiable need for her leads to a complex game of sex, desire, and dominance not even he can control.

Awakened by the passion Grant stirs in her, Mary finds herself falling for the stern captain. But when her false identity leads to rumors of her spying for the French, she must choose between her love for Ireland and the man who commands her body—and her heart.

My Review:

When I first read the book description of ‘The Captain’s Rebel’ I was immediately fascinated by this book. I love romance novels, and pirate stories so when I saw that this book was about a captain I knew I wanted to start reading this book.

In ‘The Captain’s Rebel’ we meet Mary O’Malley. Mary is determined to get her ancestors land back. To achieve that she is marrying one of her old friends, at least that is the plan. When things don’t go as planned, and her own life is in danger, Mary embarks on a journey across the Atlantic Ocean as a cabin boy. There Mary meets the ship’s captain Richard Grant. And soon Mary finds out that Richard isn’t one to fool easily.

The beginning of ‘The Captain’s Rebel’ was a little hard to get into if you ask me. It really took me some time to get used to the characters and the way they acted. Since ‘The Captain’s Rebel’ is a historical romance novel, I suspected a certain way of communication and courting, but this was definitely something else.

The main character Mary wasn’t really my kind of character. I began to like her more and more how farther I got into the story, but especially in the beginning I just didn’t really like her. She was to slutty, and kind of selfish is you ask me.
Captain Richard Grant was a character I liked from the start. He was mysterious, and kind of funny and he really had something charming and endearing about him.

‘The Captain’s Rebel’ had some BDSM in it, what isn’t really my thing but it didn’t bother me. It seemed to fit the characters and their romance. And let me tell you, the romance between Mary and Richard was really good. I just loved those two, and the whole BDSM bit, seemed to fit their relationship perfectly.

Although there were some parts about this book I didn’t really like, I loved most of this read. ‘The Captain’s Rebel’ is definitely a different kind of historical romance read than you usual see.

About the Author:

C.B. Halverson is the alter-ego of Colleen Halverson, author of the Aisling Chronicles. Ever since she picked up her first bodice ripper as an impressionable adolescent, she wanted to explore the erotic female experience through writing. It wouldn’t be until much later that she allowed herself the freedom to write these sordid tales, and now she fears she may never stop. When she’s not staring out the window and dreaming up stories, she can be found trying out new Thai recipes, drinking wine with her girlfriends, or hiking through the woods with her husband and two children.

I received this book from Entangled Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

My Favorite.. Food

My Favorite Food? Now that’s a difficult one. I’ve been an ‘easy’ eater for as long as I can remember. There are not a lot of things I don’t like or won’t eat. Chicory for example, really isn’t a vegetable I like to eat.. But to say I hate it? No. So what is my favorite food?
My tasty Swiss Rösti diner last year.

I think my favorite food definitely has to be the Swiss dish Rösti. For the ones who don’t know what rösti is, it’s a Swiss dish consisting mainly of potatoes. I make it at home every ones in a while. But as good as it tastes in Switzerland I can never make it. The rösti I like the most is made with cheese, ham, and an egg. I ate it at least three times last year in May when I was in Switzerland. It’s just so yummy. You all should try it sometimes! ;)

While I can’t visit Switzerland as many times as I’d like, I’m still looking for a good rösti recipe. I probably should have known a great recipe by now, since I practically grew up in Switzerland but I still haven’t found one that tastes as good as it tastes there. I’ll keep trying though! ;)

My Favorite.. TV Show

Next to reading I love watching TV shows and movies. There are a lot of great TV- shows out there I love to watch. But there is one show that is my absolute favorite: Gilmore Girls. Ever since the show aired in 2000, I’ve been a big fan of this show. Not only because of the great actors, the fun dialogues and the fun small town life (I love small towns).. but since I was also raised by mom I always kind of felt connected to this series. And I still love this show, even though the last episode aired in 2007.

In Gilmore Girls we follow the lives of mother Lorelai, and daughter Rory. Not only do they have a great bond, but there are also some great other characters living in their small town. The diner owner Luke. Lorelai’s best friend Sookie St. James. Mrs. Kim. Mr. and Mrs. Gilmore. All these characters are just so fun to watch and I love them all.

I own all the Gilmore Girls seasons on DVD, and I must have watched them all a dozen times. And still I can’t get enough of this series. Last year the revival came out, and I was so super excited. I’ve heard many different opinions about the revival, but I loved every part of it. Gilmore Girls , if you ask me, is one of the best series out there.

My favorite TV show after Gilmore Girls is Grey’s Anatomy. The first episode aired when I started Nursing school and I just kind of grew up watching that show. I own all the seasons on DVD and I still watch every new episode.

My Bachelorette Party

Since I’m currently not able to do as much blogging as I normally do, I thought it would be fun to show you guys about my awesome, super fun #Bachelorette party I had this Saturday! As you guys probably already know, my boyfriend and I are getting married this month (only 18 days to go :D) And life has been kind of crazy! We both work full-time, and with my unregular shifts that change every week, it’s a lot of planning. But thankfully I’m pretty good in planning! But I had to slow down with the blogging, which in the beginning felt like kind of a failure but now I’m just determined to think of a lot of fun post when I’ll get back in June.

But back to my awesome day Saturday!! My mom is my maid of honor and she, with two of my friends, planned my #Bachelorette party. I knew it would be this Saturday, but more details I didn’t know. I was kind of nervous since I really don’t like being in the spotlight. And when I arrived at my mom’s house I got even more nervous when I saw the decorations hanging, and my baby picture standing by the door.

But from the moment I walked in I felt so much better, my friends and family where there and it was just so much fun to see everyone together for the first time. We got two hours to chat, and there were these very tasty sandwiches. And then… My mom came with these buttons and a crown and veil I had to wear. LOL!!

With three cars we went to the next location. I had no idea what we were going to do. I had to walk through the busy shopping streets with my crown.. It was very funny! And then we arrived at this little shop that gave workshops. We did a chocolate/ bonbon making workshop. It was a lot of fun! I had no talent what so ever (and they tasted really bad) but it was such a fun thing to do.

After the workshop we went to this bar called Lazy Louis, were we had drinks and tasty snacks. We just laughed and talked a lot! After a view hours, we went back to my mom’s house were they organized a BBQ!! Which was awesome since I looooooove BBQ’s and the weather was very good so we got to sit outside. There was tasty food, champagne and it was just a great day.

My man came to bring me home later that night! It was such a great day.. I could not have thought of a greater #Bachelorette party! In two weeks it’s my man’s time for a party! :D
